INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW STYLE SPLIT RINGS

NOTES

  1. Remove Blanket Cylinder
  2. Clean the ring gear with alcohol
  3. Place very light coat of valve grinding compound completely on edge of split rings.
  4. Replace draw rod, nut and washer.  The new washer must be mounted with the smooth darker side towards the nut
  5. Loc-tite and check the tightness of the pivot stud for the split rings in the wider gear
  6. Finger tighten the nut on the draw rod and move the gear back and forth before replacing the cylinder.  Do NOT clean the valve grinding compound from the rings.
  7. Replace the cylinder and snug the draw rod a little tighter and move the gear back and forth 5 to 10 strokes using the hand wheel.  Repeat this step until you cannot go back and forth anymore.
